What can I expect from the process?
The process of carrying out each project is slightly different, due to the custom nature of each storefront. But, there are a few things that you can expect to see happen in the process:
- You'll receive an initial client survey that helps give everyone (including the client!) a better idea of the scope of the project and the your needs.
- Next, the survey will be carefully considered and assimilated and a scope of work will be created for your project.
- A detailed proposal will be developed that includes a scope of work, a fee schedule that includes the fee by task and the number of estimated hours that the project will take to complete, a projected project schedule (subject to change based on client acceptance of terms and approval to begin) and the basic project terms and conditions.
- After the project kickoff, work will begin on the project, usually, this phase either includes the creation of a sitemap and wireframes, or, in the case of simpler projects, graphic design mockups.
- Depending on the scale of the project, the client will usually be presented with 2-3 graphic concepts, which are discussed and perhaps even fused into a final concept.
- The approved final graphic concept is then professionally sliced and optimized and browser-viewable pages are created with XHTML/CSS.
- After the XHTML/CSS is complete and tested in all major browsers, it is used as the skeleton to create any application templates (if necessary).
- Any Javascript and UI interaction work is completed.
- The site is ready to launch.
- Post-launch, depending on the services you require, an SEM campaign may be launched which will start to help you gain exposure for your site and products.

Some design and development firms use confusing and complicated code and keep source graphic and development files from their unsuspecting clients in order to command their business in the future.
